This past weekend marked my very last boudoir marathon and what a weekend it was! As usual, I had the beautiful and talented Meaghan Eagles of Enchantment Makeup Artistry along to help my girls look their very best. I've already heard from many of the girls and hearing how thrilled they are with their photos really makes me realize how awesome it is to be able to provide them the opportunity to see themselves a little differently. As girls, we're all just naturally too hard on ourselves and I'm happy to have had a part in allowing these amazing ladies to see just how beautiful they really are. Here's some sneaks:

At just over 5 weeks old, today marked Skylark's 2nd appearance in the studio. His Mommy & Daddy have him on an extended bellies to babies package with me which means I'll be seeing A LOT of him this 1st year :)

I'll be honest, I don't normally work with newborns who are much more than 2 weeks old and although the session went a little bit long today, I think the results were well worth it and MAYBE not as hard as I thought it might be :) Here's some sneaks:

Oh boy Mr. Greyson! Like his Mommy mentioned to me while in the studio today, since he decided to make his debut on the ONE DAY she didn't necessarily want him to, perhaps we should have known he would be a little stinker in the studio this afternoon :)

After 5 hours of feeding, snuggling, pooping, peeing, grunting, groaning, sneezing and just general, all around BEGGING, we managed to finally get some really great shots of this beautiful little boy who was born on Christmas morning 8 days ago. Could you imagine a more perfect gift????

What can I say about this little man, other than he is seriously one of the most laid back newborns to ever grace my studio. He arrived with his Mommy & Daddy, he ate and then he slept...and slept. It didn't matter what I did (well actually, he wasn't a huge fan of being on his tummy at one point), but other than that, he let me do what I wanted and needed with him, and we were done his whole session in under 2 hours. Newborn sessions can take from 2-4 hours so this was fantastic timing!

With the help of my daughter Alex, we even managed one of my favourite poses with him...the "froggy" pose with the hands under the chin :)

Malaya, 6 Days New ~ Welland Newborn Photographer

This beautiful little girl (ok, not so little), came to visit me in the studio this morning. At just 6 days old, she sure didn't look like she was so new. Born at almost 9 lbs., I couldn't help but giggle at her "chunkiness", especially her cheeks and chins! LOL.

I couldn't have asked for a more mellow baby, she slept the entire 2 hours it took us to get some really great shots and I hope her Mommy & Daddy love what I captured. Malaya is another little one on my yearly program so I get the pleasure of watching her grow...best.job.ever.

This past weekend was an incredible experience for me. I've decided to try my hand at birth photography and I got the call Saturday that my client was in labour. I went into a bit of a panic as it was Saturday and I was getting ready to leave to shoot my very last wedding of the 2011 season!

I went right over to Deb & Buddha's house (you may remember that they are the awesome couple whom I went with to Punta Cana to shoot their wedding this past January), and began shooting Deb labouring in the tub. The birthing tub and other accessories were rented from a local place called

The Birth Nest, which is owned by another client of mine!

Before long, I realized I had to leave for the wedding and Deb was still 6 cm dilated. I knew at that point that I would be gone for approximately 5 hours and was pretty sure I was going to miss the big moment....

Fast forward to a few minutes before I was getting ready to finish up the wedding, my cell phone rings and my daughter answers it for me...she comes up to me and tells me Deb is pushing. I knew at that point I had about a 20 minute drive to get back to where the birth was taking place and I tried my hardest not to speed!

With about 40 minutes to spare, I'm thrilled to tell you that I did make it in time and beautiful Lexi Lafleur was born in front of my eyes. I can't even explain what an amazing experience it was and one I will forever be grateful for.

Thank you so very much to Deb & Buddha for allowing me to witness one of the most special things I have ever been a part of. Debbie, you are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

This sweet couple's ceremony and reception took place at one of my favourite spots in our area, White Oaks Resort & Spa. While they had planned on an outdoor ceremony, Mother Nature had other plans in the days leading up to the wedding day.... it wasn't raining the day of, but it was far too wet to have the ceremony outside so they quickly moved things around and the vows were exchanged inside. We did head outside for some pictures in between the ceremony and reception however and here's some sneaks!

NAPCP Photography Retreat, Vail Colorado

I don't normally blog a whole lot of "personal" stuff but this is a mix of both personal and business.

I just recently got back from a trip to Vail, Colorado where I was a part of this year's NAPCP Photography Retreat and want to share some images from what was a truly incredible trip. Our home away from home for the week was the beautiful Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa At Beaver Creek where I had the honour of meeting some of the most beautiful, intelligent and successful women in this business. I came home with my heart and my head, both full of new info., inspiration and excitement.

I decided within the past year that I really wanted to start specializing in newborn photography, along with my usual weddings and in Colorado, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with two of the top baby photographers in the industry, Kelley Ryden & Tracy Raver. They were amazing to watch and learn from and I'm looking forward to putting everything I saw into play in my own studio in the near future!

NAPCP did an AMAZING job with this retreat and I'm looking forward to seeing what future retreats have in store!

I want to give a big shout out to the other incredible women that shared their knowledge at the retreat:

This beautiful family are not only clients of mine but dear friends. I know I've mentioned it before but Michelle & I met because she was the winner of my very first facebook contest where the winner got a free family shoot. We've been attached at the hip ever since that day and this is truly one of the best parts of my job. It's so rewarding to have such an amazing rapport with so many different people and families, especially with the Marr's.

We've ALL come such a long way in our personal relationship and our working relationship...check out one of their family shots from back in 2007

Now onto this year's captures. Mataya and Westen especially have come leaps and bounds in "liking" me enough and trusting me enough to really work with me. Can't tell you how beautiful it is for me to see that I was able to capture some true, genuine smiles for probably the very first time :)

AND, check out this shot that my sweet daughter captured! Alex has been in photography camp all week and is obviously learning very quickly. I see her passion for photography emerging and it makes my heart smile :)

This beautiful family recently travelled a few hours to come into the Niagara Region for a family reunion/40th anniversary celebration. To help celebrate, they asked me to meet with them to capture some family photos at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Niagara Falls. Seventeen of them total spent some time in front of my camera and it was such a pleasure getting to know each family a little and then of course capturing some of them all as one big group as well.

Brady is my newest "bellies to babies" client and after meeting him and his wonderful Mommy & Daddy today, I'm looking very forward to watching him grow! This family drove well over an hour to come into the studio today for some newborn shots, and while I was concerned that Brady was already 6 weeks, this BIG "little man" was an angel. This beautiful little girl REALLY gave us a run for our money....it got to the point where we were pretty ready to give up! Little Violet just wasn't having any of me trying to get her to snuggle into those cute little poses I wanted. Her sweet Mommy and Grandma were amazing and really helped me finally get her settled enough to get some great shots, which made the 3 plus hours we worked with her, VERY worth it! This sweet little girl came to visit this morning at just 10 days new! I can't tell you how excited I was to meet her since the last time I saw her parents was last fall when Traci & I shot their beautiful wedding in Niagara Falls. Mya was a perfect angel for me and my camera and although she managed to pee on her Mommy which gave us a pretty good laugh (especially when Daddy tried to "catch" the pee), we ended up getting some pretty great shots of this gorgeous family:

Krista and her beautiful family met me near the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie so we could capture some photos of the 4 of them. The last time I worked with this family, their sweet girl had just turned one. Now, they've added a chunky little man to their group and it was so much fun capturing them all being "them". Tammy & Jay said their "I Do's" this past weekend at the Americana in Niagara Falls. It was a beautiful day weather wise and we headed out to the Botanical Gardens, also in the Falls, to capture some posed and candid moments of this couple who are so obviously in love. My beautiful friend Deanna is getting hitched in August and yesterday was her bridal shower. Since I'm a bridesmaid and wanted to be in some of the pictures, I asked my daughter Alex to come along and capture some photos from the day as well! I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous little lady today. She is the beautiful sibling of Avery, whom I photographed at a few months old last year! Adelaide is a BIG girl at just over 10 lbs. and while she had a diva moment or 2, she was one of the easiest newborns I've worked with so far :)

I can't believe a year has passed since the first official set of twins I ever had in my studio! Perhaps you'll remember Cole & Julia?

Their first birthday is next week and today marked their final shoot with me as part of the bellies to babies package...a bittersweet moment for sure since I have watched them grow these past 12 months....from sweet newborns to the big boy and girl I got to hang out with today! It's so awesome seeing their little personalities emerge and today's shoot on the island couldn't have been more fun!

With this awful weather we've been having, I was a bit nervous about this year's first official outdoor engagement shoot. It's the middle of May and we have yet to truly have a run of spring-like weather!

I met up with Greg & Sarah in beautiful Niagara on the Lake today and watched as the dark clouds came in. Sure enough, just as I pulled into town, the rain slowly started. I tried to make some quick arrangements to shoot indoors if necessary, but none of those were panning out :(

We had just taken a few quick pictures near a gorgeous blossoming tree when it started to POUR. Greg, Sarah & I bee-lined it to the van and knew we had some decisions to make. We decided to drive around a bit and see if the weather would get any better. We weren't really holding our breaths though...

Not ten minutes later, blue sky appeared and suddenly, it looked and felt like a GORGEOUS spring day! I'm so thankful we waited it out and it's SO NICE to see such gorgeous colours in my photos again :)

I Heart Faces ~ May Flowers

These 2 gorgeous babies were in the studio just 2 days ago and were total ROCKSTARS in front of the camera! At 2 weeks old, I was a bit concerned that I may have trouble getting them to sleep for me, and while Sophia put up a bit more fight than her brother, it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. Everything went perfect actually until the last couple of shots where I got them right down to their birthdays suits. Poor Daddy got it from BOTH babies (and from both ends LOL). A memorable shoot for sure!

Last week was a first for me, I agreed to photograph a bridal shower. I don't generally shoot a whole lot of "events" like this but this one was a bit different. Paola explained to me that her bridal shower would be taking place on a Friday evening, complete with a candy bar and a DJ. I figured it would probably be a lot of fun, and wow, I was not disappointed! I gotta tell you, these Italian families sure know how to do things up right!

The day after the beautiful wedding last week in Punta Cana, I had the pleasure of getting Deb & Buddha out and into the ocean (and pool) for some fun and sexy shots of both of them in their wedding attire. Last week was an amazing week! My husband and I travelled to Punta Cana so that I could capture the wedding of Debbie & her now husband Buddha in the beautiful country of the Dominican Republic. They chose Dreams Punta Cana as the resort and I can honestly say that it won't be a matter of IF we go back, it will be WHEN. This resort truly is 5 star when it comes to service, food, drinks and much more and it made the perfect backdrop for some amazing wedding photos. Here's some of what I captured:

I'm back from an amazing trip to the Dominican Republic and more specifically, Punta Cana where I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding, a Rock the Dress and 2 family shoots. Only the crazy amount of snow and cold we've had lately reminds me that it's January. With the amount of shooting I've been doing lately, it feels a bit more like July or August LOL. January is usually a slower time for me photography wise but not this year. Wow.

As time goes on, boudoir photography is becoming more and more popular, and as a photographer, I couldn't be happier. It's always so much fun to get together with a group of women of all different shapes, sizes, ages and come up with some really awesome and sexy images for whatever reason each girl has. Some will give them as a Valentine's Day gift, some a wedding day gift, others a birthday gift....and more and more, women are simply doing it for THEMSELVES. As one of my most recent clients pointed out, we as women, are FAR too hard on ourselves and it's VERY important to take the time to realize how BEAUTIFUL we are. As mothers and wives, we tend to put ourselves last and it's seriously about time we start making sure we take care of ourselves too :)

Sweet Judah ~ Brand New!

Just as 2010 ended in an amazing way, 2011 began with this beautiful, BIG boy! Meet Judah (what a great name eh?). He tipped the scales at just under 11 lbs. and when he was here in the studio the other day, many of my "newborn" props didn't even come close to fitting him! He was an angel for us though after a bit of a rough go at the beginning of the shoot (think puking, peeing and other....LOL). Here's some of what we got from him:

I couldn't have asked for a better way to finish off the 2010 wedding season! It was almost exactly a year ago when we shot this adorable couple's engagement shoot in a near blizzard! Their wedding day however was the total opposite weather wise and we even got some amazing shots OUTSIDE without a jacket on, IN CANADA, on December 31st!
